| O'Donnell Blue Star, Pet Farm Hostel (which is situated on a small farm at Curraghgraigue, Summerhill, Borrisoleigh) is a variety of accommodations including a new bungalow with en-suite , private rooms ,some with double bed and some with single beds . Also , large 6 bed family room , mix dorm ,etc . There is also a charming little ' love nest ' , an old style whitewashed farm cottage which has been extensively renovated with all mod cons. It combines the best of the old with modern cooking, comfortable Double bed and is a good place for some peace and quiet. Also visit our friendly animals , goats , pigs, chickens , ducks etc , at the farmyard. We speak English and Irish (Gaelic) and are also very interested in other languages and customs. We also love a singsong ! Guests will also have the opportunity of seeing the Celtic 'Stone Age' type hut which is situated on the ancient Rath or Fairy Fort, You may also see the 'Leaba an Leprechaun' or 'Tomb of the Unknown Leprechaun ' e-mail us at ; stargaze@iolfree.ie or call for further information once you have made a reservation. What to do: Just relax and chill out far away from the buzz of modern day living. Enjoy the horses and ponies. On the farm we have Poultry , Ducks , goats , pigs ,etc , with more on the way . Dig some potters clay from the streams on the farm and try your hand at moulding some pots or other artifacts. A great way to unwind ! There is a really nice romantic walk round the farm , with wild flowers , violets , buttercups woodbines and many more including Meadow and wetland varieties . Some lovely Picnic Spots ! Fresh Water Streams , old Oak Trees etc . You might like to visit a real Irish traditional sing along pub. Well no problem here, have a go at playing the tin whistle or bodhran; you'll find the locals both friendly and encouraging. For lovers of ballroom dancing there are various venues. Music ranges from Country and Irish through to up to the minute dance and pop, with also Festivals in the various towns and villages. If you like lakes, well we're only about 35 minutes by car from Lough Derg, the largest lake in the Irish Republic.and only 15 minutes from Templemore Lake. ( Great for Angling ) Tennis there are two excellent tarmac courts in the local village Golf Play on the 18-hole championship in Thurles or the 18 hole course in Templemore Fishing - The River Suir offers trout and salmon fishing. Templemore Lake is famous for its large pike and other coarse fish. Equestrian Tipperary is great horsey country, and if you haven't tried riding before, there is expert tuition available locally. Pitch & putt - Available in Thurles or Templemore Gaelic games Watch one of Ireland's thrilling native sports ( Hurling or Football)which is played regularly at the local park Water sports Try windsurfing on Lough Derg. You can also go swimming in pure spring water in the local Clodiagh River. Walks - Quiet country roads & laneways, or just ramble through fields and meadows Hang gliding - The local Devil's Bit Mountain is recommended as a suitable site (Equipment not supplied) Whether you want to simply relax at the hostel, or have an activity filled holiday, memories are made to last here. Please note that our 4-bed private room is actually a smashing little mobile home with a double bed and two single bunk beds, offering beautiful views over the hillside. It has a very relaxing feel about it , probably to do with the fact that it was originally a family owned seaside home . Our 2 bed room is actually a self-catering cottage with one double room and is en-suite. There is a very relaxing private sitting room . with a settee which opens into a comfortable double bed ! and a kitchen with microwave , electric cooker , fridge etc . A really romantic little cottage . A home from home . Fantastic value! |

Borrisoleigh is on the R498 between THURLES and Nenagh We're 1.5 Km from the village of Borrisleigh, just off the Borrisoleigh-Templemore Road. (R501) Go out of Borrisoleigh on the Templemore Road (R501)for approx one mile. (Call me at 00 353 864021659 or when in ireland simply dial 086 4021659 when in Ireland ,should you need assistance. Contact details will be on your confirmation e-mail.) Turn left at the first junction, then immediate left again. Go over that narrow road until you come to the first lane, (you'll see a newly built bungalow also on your right , with 4 Roof Skylight Windows . Turn up this lane and go up to the top. You are there. Failte Romhat.(welcome) The hostel is also within driving distance of Cork, Rosslare & Dun Laoghaire car ferries. Dublin, Cork, Shannon, and Waterford Airports are all a couple of hours drive away. From Cork ; Take the Main Dublin Rd , N8 as far as Horse and Jockey , which is just beyond Cashel .( You can stay on the main road , ie . take the by-pass etc) Take the road from the Horse 'n' jockey to Thurles ! Take the road from Thurles towards Nenagh /Borrisoleigh . Borrisoleigh is on the main road between Thurles and Nenagh . When you arrive in Borrisoleigh ; take 1st right for Templemore . Go out for c.1 km , past Gleeson Bottling ; take 1st left at post n rail fencing . Then IMMEDIATE left again . Go over 100 yds as far as bungalow with 4 skylights in roof . You should also see Blue Star flag . Turn up lane beside bungalow . Go to very top ------------Welcome ! ( No need to go into Roscrea ) Near Roscrea take a turn off to the left for Thurles ! This road will bring you into Templemore ! ( DO NOT follow the road into Thurles ) Go Straight through Templemore and follow the road , u will pass the Red Flag Furniture on your right hand side . You will also pass O'Mahony Print on the Right . About 5 miles from Templemore , you will come to a junction with timber Post & Rail fencing . Take a right there and then immediate left for ' Currabaha ' . I am the very 1st laneway on the right . You will see a newly built bungalow with 4 Skylights on the roof beside the lane. You should also see Blue Star flag . Turn up lane beside bungalow . Turn up the lane . I am at the top ! Welcome . Any problem , ask anybody . People love giving directions . You can also phone me on 086 4021659 From Rosslare ---take the N25 to Waterford . Then take the N24 to Clonmel . Take the N8 through Cashel and on towards the village of 'Horse 'n' Jockey ' where you branch off forThurles . Take the R498 from Thurles towards Nenagh . You will reach Borrisoleigh after 8 miles. Then turn out the Templemore Road ,the R501 as far as the very first junction on your left . Take this left AND an Immediate left again as far as the 1st laneway to your right .(up by the bungalow with 4 skylights in roof. Go up to the top of this laneway . Welcome , you have arrived . Any problem at all , give me a call on 086 4021659. From Shannon--Take the N19 and N18 from Shannon towards Limerick . Then , take the Dublin Road , the N7 as far as Nenagh . Then take the Thurles Rd ( N498) as far as Borrisoleigh . Turn out the Templemore rd (R501) , then take the 1st junction to your left . Then IMMEDIATE left again. Go over the road for about 200mtrs . You will see a new Bungalow with 4 Roof windows ! THIS IS THE HOSTEL ! You are Welcome , or Turn up the road beside it . Go right up to the top . Welcome , you have arrived at my farmstead and home . I dont have the Credit Card Merchant facility anymore , as the banks were ripping me off with their exorbitant charges, so i told them to take it away .
